Here is a simple recipe for a classic pepperoni pizza:
how to make pizza sauce
Ingredients:
- 170g of chopped tomatoes
- 1 tbsp cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp of chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- ½ teaspoon of dried herbs consisting of oregano, rosemary, and thyme
- Salt 1/2 tsp
Instructions:
- heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the minced onion, and garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the canned tomatoes (with juice), oregano, basil, salt, and pepper to the pan.
- Use a wooden spoon to break up the tomatoes into smaller pieces.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook until it has thickened slightly.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
- let it cool to room temperature before using
Ingredients for the dough
- 1 ½ teaspoons of instant yeast
- ½ teaspoon of sugar
- 150g of warm water (35•c)
- 280g of all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- ½ teaspoon of salt
toppings:
mozzarella cheese
pepperoni
basil, parsley, butter
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour yeast, sugar, salt and warm water.
- knead the dough for 5-7 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a wet paper towel, and let it rise in a warm place (35-40°c) for 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
- brush oil on a pizza pan
- Place the dough on the pan, and use your hands to stretch and shape it into a 12-inch round or rectangle pizza.
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough
- Add shredded mozzarella, pepperoni, basil, parsley and butter on top
- Bake the pizza at 200°c for 20-25 minutes on the bottom rack of the oven until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
